Search? Yeah, Ghost has that built in, right? Yes and no. While Ghost's sodo-search works well for basic needs, larger sites with extensive content often reach its limits. The built-in search can only search post titles, authors, tags, and excerpts. So, what if one of your users wants to search for a specific word or phrase you mentioned deep down in one of your posts?
Yeah. You need a different search then.
The typical recommendation for enhanced search in Ghost is to use Algolia. It's a great tool and works well. But it requires setting up and managing a separate account, dealing with usage limits, and implementing complex code changes in your theme. When a customer reached out for help with this, I realised that this is a great opportunity to make Magic Pages even better.
That's why I'm building a complete search solution exclusively for Magic Pages Pro customers. It's powered by Typesense, an open-source search engine that's just as powerful as Algolia but gives us complete control over the entire experience. The best part? You won't need to manage any external accounts or worry about usage limits - it's all included in your Pro plan.
The search comes with a beautifully designed interface, similar to the native sodo-search and can be integrated in all themes. And it's already live on the Magic Pages website!

The goal of this feature is to offer the features of advanced search, but without all the setup. I am still working out some details, but the idea is that everything can be set up within the Magic Pages customer portal with a few clicks.
This feature will be exclusively available to customers on the Pro plan.
