Social Web/Activity Pub Beta

Well, six weeks later, and here we are. Social Web is live on Magic Pages.

At this moment, there are two sites live: @index@magicpages.co and @jannis@jannis.io. I have tested the ActivityPub integration over the last days on these sites, and love it so far!

Why this sudden change? Well, I took a few days to properly look into Ghost's ActivityPub Github repository.

Turns out, my fears or ever-changing infrastructure components were not valid. Huge kudos to the Ghost team for setting things up in the way they did. Once I understood what was happening under the hood, translating it to the existing Magic Pages infrastructure was fairly straightforward.

So, if you're interested in giving this a spin, log in to your Ghost site, head to the Magic Pages customer portal, and click on the "Configuration" tab. On the very bottom, you'll find the option to activate the beta.

Your Ghost site will then restart, and it will be available in 2-3 minutes.

I will be updating the ActivityPub integration on a weekly basis, together with normal Ghost updates.

If you spot anything that feels odd, feel free to reach out via email or in the live chat. I'll then be able to figure out whether that's Magic Pages specific, or whether this should be addressed in the ActivityPub repository from Ghost.
